This time three years ago I was standing in the same room as I am sitting typing in now. I was talking on the phone to a midwife about my waters breaking. My lovely boy Rohan had decided to put in an early appearance, just as his beautiful big brother Dan had done before him. Almost 24 hours later, his journey was complete, and I held him in my arms and told him how much I loved him.
Tomorrow he will turn three. Three! So. my lovely boy, here is a poem written just for you…
To Rohan
To wish you Happy Birthday, my lovely Rohan
I have decided to write you this little poem
This is because you are three today
And I wanted to tell you, in my own little way
That you make me smile and laugh out loud
That you’re funny and gorgeous and always charming the crowd
That you’re kind and caring, and very good at sharing
(And you also scare the pants off me with your extreme daring)
I can’t believe that you’re three already
And I wonder how long I will keep saying to you “Go Steady!“
Well “Go Steady” my boy, on your special day
